The Glorious Bastard DDRP ride

Leaving from DDRP friend Jason Chase’s home near Lone Jack, Missouri- the Glorious Bastard route lives up to its name. Endless rollers and a few steep climbs, plus wind make this route a true challenge. The Dirty Dog Race Pack gathered with the Move Up Off Road and Subaru teams, plus a few Chamois Butt’r team riders on a gorgeous November day. Most riders chose the 63-mile option, while a few brave souls took on the 81. We rolled out together for the first 5 miles or so, until the rollers began to separate the riders. I ended up riding alone all day, somewhere in the middle of the field. The gravel out there is unrelenting. We had pre-dropped Martin City Brew Co beer and a cooler of water at the top of the Devil’s Backbone climb. Because I was riding alone I passed up the beer cooler and opted to pick the last of the season’s wildflowers to attach to my cue card clip.

We never shy away from an opportunity to gather our little bike family tribe for a challenge, followed by good food and, of course beer. Cheers to the end of the 2018 race season and a big year in 2019!!!
